The Silent Cybersecurity Warrior Working Behind the Scenes: Vishak Raman

The growing and ever evolving threat actors force many a CISOs to spend sleepless nights. The challenge goes a notch higher when these same CISOs depend on you to help them protect their organizations against these threats and navigate the maze that is cybersecurity.

While CISOs’ achievements are often celebrated, and rightly so, one often tends to forget the silent warriors helping them behind the scenes – the technology provider. One such warrior who has made his mark in the industry is Vishak Raman, Director, Security Business, Cisco India & SAARC.

In his career spanning over 20 years in the information security domain, Raman has worked with some of the leading information security companies, including Cisco, FireEye, Fortinet, WatchGuard, Tata Communications and Sify among others. He has worked across cross product management, sales, marketing and business development roles.

This has given him the opportunity to work on some of the most leading-edge technologies in security. Working on multiple technologies, Raman has seen the threat landscape evolve from close quarters and contributed towards defining the new trends shaping up the industry.

He is credited with building Fortinet’s Unified Threat Management success story in India and SAARC for 10 years. He was also instrumental in setting up the first-of-its-kind Global Technical Assistance Center in Bangalore to support Fortinet’s customers worldwide.

Raman’s extensive experience working up and close with CISOs and helping shape up the cybersecurity strategy for many leading organizations, has intensified Raman’s belief in a proactive approach to security. Today, as he leads Cisco’s security business for India & SAARC geography, he is helping the company’s customers imbibe the same approach to build a robust cyber defense.

Prior to Cisco, Raman was the Senior Regional Director (India & SAARC) at FireEye. He was also the Global Head of Content Delivery Network (CDN) & Managed Security Services (MSS) business at Tata communications for three years.
