Scotiabank appoints Rajendra Bhalerao as its CISO for India operations. Bhalerao has been a security practitioner with more than two decades of experience, and joins Scotiabank from SBM India where he served as CISO for the last 8 months.

Prior to SBM, he was the CISO for Paytm Payments Bank and has served in several roles for brands such as NPCI, IndusInd Bank, Alcatel-Lucent, Mastek, EY, Paladion, etc.

Rajendra comes with diversified experience across industries such as banking, financial services, consulting and telecom. As a security leader he has spent a decade in BFSI sector. During his stint at NPCI, he has played a crucial role in building the cyber security framework for UPI platform.

Banks are more focused now on their cyber security strategies and Rajendra takes charge just at the right time as a security leader. He will be based in Mumbai and will be responsible for driving the bank’s information security initiatives and strategy for its India operations and supporting the global security initiatives.

Rajendra is a Postgraduate from Mumbai University and is CISM certified. We wish him  good luck for the new journey ahead.
