From heading technology for Indian Navy to driving the cybersecurity agenda and transformation for leading companies, Captain Mohan is amongst some of the world’s most sought after information security thought leaders.
During his distinguished career with the Indian Navy as Director and Head of its IT department, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India for his pathbreaking work in the field of information security.
Even as his career changed gears and he moved to the private sector, it continued to follow the same distinguished path. His career of over 30 years career leading cybersecurity for companies like Bharti Airtel, Nissan, IBM and Secure Synergy among others stands testimony to that.
From deep technical expertise and making security relevant in the ever evolving threat/risk environment to aligning security with business needs and talking security to the board – Captain Mohan can cover the entire breadth and more with equal ease and elan.
As the global vCISO & Executive Advisor for Nissan Motor Corporation, he drove cybersecurity transformation including formulation of global cybersecurity strategy, restructuring the cybersecurity organization and shared cybersecurity services. He was also responsible for setting up of the global Nissan Unified SOC.
During his stint with Bharti Group as its Senior VP and Global CISO, he was responsible for managing information risks, business continuity and compliance across twenty-two countries in Africa, India and South Asia. He also held charge as the Chief Architect and managed IT in South Asia with CIOs of Airtel Bangladesh and Sri Lanka reporting in to him during his tenure.
Besides being an advisor and mentor to various companies and CISOs, he is also the Co-Founder and CEO of CISO Cybersecurity, an initiative that was born out of his passion for training and skill development.
In 2013 he founded CISO Cybersecurity with the aim of establishing an organization that looks at cybersecurity from an all-encompassing perspective – consulting and advisory, skill development, and awareness at citizen, academia, corporate and government levels.
Prior to CISO Cybersecurity, he had co-founded Secure Synergy, a security start-up that grew into one of India’s leading managed security services company winning the Frost & Sullivan award twice in a row within four years of founding.
It’s no surprise then that Captain Mohan stands tall among his contemporaries and has won many accolades for his contribution to the cybersecurity domain. Besides the DSCI Security Leader award he has also winner of the RSA Security Strategist award.
Hi well-rounded and deep expertise has earned him a seat on the board of advisors of various companies, initiatives and associations. He is on the board of advisors of various companies, initiatives and associations, he is a member of the National Task Force on Information Security set up by the Prime Minister’s Office under the auspices of the National Security Council to define India’s Cybersecurity Roadmap. He is also Co-Chair of the Industry Working Group of the Indo-US Cyber Security Forum and the DOT Working Group on Telecom Security. He is Chair of the CII National Committee on Data Security.
Captain Felix Mohan has served as ADC to Governor of Maharashtra and OSD to the Vice President of India and has also been member of IBM Security Global Advisory Board and RSA Security Business Innovation Council.
He is also a regular speaker on Cybersecurity and info-warfare at national and international conferences and prestigious national institutions.
